16 April 2004The UK based Qibla Cola Company Ltd., was presented yesterday with the DTI Innovation Award as part of the Asian Business Awards 2004. The awards organised by Eastern Eye were presented at a star studded gala dinner at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Tuesday 13th April 2004.
Abid Hussein, Chief Public Relations Officer of Qibla Cola who collected the award said, 'We are delighted to receive this award. This is a good pat on the back for our team whose hard work and dedication has enabled our success. Qibla Cola is going from strength to strength, watch this space!'
Graham Telling from the Department of Trade and Industry who presented the award said, 'We are very proud to be associated with the Asian Business Awards and delighted that this year’s Innovation Award has been won by Qibla Cola.'
The successful exploitation of their idea – to produce a variety of soft drinks, combined with a very strong ethical dimension – has an appeal to consumers’ personal values and speaks highly of this company’s innovative approach to a demanding, global marketplace.
The soft drinks producer is an innovator as it was formed to provide an ethical alternative in the soft drinks market. Qibla Cola’s products are currently available in the UK, Netherlands, Norway, Canada and recently launched in Pakistan.
The Qibla Cola Company gives 10% of all profits made to good causes. The company will focus its donations to charities working in health, education and medical research that work locally in a variety of places across the globe.
